Mr. Kamel received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with honors, and a minor in Biology from the University of Southern California in 1981. Upon graduation, he attended dental school at the University of Pacific School of Dentistry where he received instruction in oral diagnosis and treatment planning, the study of dental materials, dental anesthesiology, operative dentistry, fixed prosthodontics, head and neck anatomy, pharmacology, as well as endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, and oral surgery.
Mr. Kamel then attended law school at the University of Santa Clara, where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree. Mr. Kamel has designed litigation management plans on behalf of insurance carriers for the defense of claims brought against insureds. He has also drafted policy and employee manuals for dental and medical offices, as well as major companies throughout the Southern California region. His practice is devoted to the representation of dentists, medical practitioners, and health care clinics on behalf of major insurance carriers located across the United States. He has co-authored the chapter entitled, Legal Jurisprudence in the last two editions of Carranza’s Clinical Periodontology, which is used at dental schools across the United States.
Mr. Kamel also focuses his practice on the defense of employers in labor and employment claims. Mr. Kamel’s experience is focused primarily upon the representation of dental practitioners, groups, and clinics in claims arising from alleged malpractice. He has lectured at seminars for health care clinics, private dental practitioner groups, dental associations and insurance companies throughout California regarding the defense of malpractice claims, as well as strategies regarding risk prevention in the dental office. Mr. Kamel has also extensive experience representing plastic and cosmetic surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, family practitioners, psychologists, therapists, nurses and pharmacists.
He has also successfully represented dental and medical practitioners, as well as pharmacists and nurses in licensure actions brought by the Attorney General. This experience has developed respect for our firm when handling cases before Administrative Law Judges and against attorneys from the Attorney General’s office. Mr. Kamel has served and continues to serve as corporate counsel for large dental and healthcare facilities and hospitals. His involvement with these facilities include the day to day legal counseling regarding risk prevention, patient disputes, as well as labor law and employment related issues arising from employee disputes. These corporate counsel duties include the monitoring of Board meetings at the larger healthcare facilities.
Mr. Kamel is also experienced in labor and employment litigation. His representation of clients includes, but is not limited to, cases involving sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace, as well as wrongful termination, meal and rest break claims, and hostile work environment claims. Mr. Kamel has also been active in his representation of Homeowner Associations from San Diego to Santa Barbara. His firm serves as corporate counsel for Homeowners Associations in Southern California providing day to day monitoring of homeowner complaints. His active role has assisted HOA Boards and Property Management Companies with aggressive defense of complaints by residents. Mr. Kamel is admitted to practice in all courts of the State of California. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Central District of California. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association and Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.
