Brian P. Kamel, Esq.

Mr. Kamel received his Bach­e­lor of Arts degree in Psy­chol­o­gy with hon­ors, and a minor in Biol­o­gy from the Uni­ver­si­ty of South­ern Cal­i­for­nia in 1981.  Upon grad­u­a­tion, he attend­ed den­tal school at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Pacif­ic School of Den­tistry where he  received instruc­tion in oral diag­no­sis and treat­ment plan­ning, the study of den­tal mate­ri­als, den­tal anes­the­si­ol­o­gy, oper­a­tive den­tistry, fixed prostho­don­tics, head and neck anato­my, phar­ma­col­o­gy, as well as endodon­tics, peri­odon­tics, ortho­don­tics, and oral surgery. 

Mr. Kamel then attend­ed law school at the Uni­ver­si­ty of San­ta Clara, where he obtained his Juris Doc­tor degree. Mr. Kamel has designed lit­i­ga­tion man­age­ment plans on behalf of insur­ance car­ri­ers for the defense of claims brought against insureds.  He has also draft­ed pol­i­cy and employ­ee man­u­als for den­tal and med­ical offices, as well as major com­pa­nies through­out the South­ern Cal­i­for­nia region.  His prac­tice is devot­ed to the rep­re­sen­ta­tion of den­tists, med­ical prac­ti­tion­ers, and health care clin­ics on behalf of major insur­ance car­ri­ers locat­ed across the Unit­ed States. He has co-authored the chap­ter enti­tled, Legal Jurispru­dence in the last two edi­tions of Carranza’s Clin­i­cal Peri­odon­tol­ogy, which is used at den­tal schools across the Unit­ed States.

Mr. Kamel also focus­es his prac­tice on the defense of employ­ers in labor and employ­ment claims. Mr. Kamel’s expe­ri­ence is focused pri­mar­i­ly upon the rep­re­sen­ta­tion of den­tal prac­ti­tion­ers, groups, and clin­ics in claims aris­ing from alleged mal­prac­tice. He has lec­tured at sem­i­nars for health care clin­ics, pri­vate den­tal prac­ti­tion­er groups, den­tal asso­ci­a­tions and insur­ance com­pa­nies through­out Cal­i­for­nia regard­ing the defense of mal­prac­tice claims, as well as strate­gies regard­ing risk pre­ven­tion in the den­tal office. Mr. Kamel has also exten­sive expe­ri­ence rep­re­sent­ing plas­tic and cos­met­ic sur­geons, ortho­pe­dic sur­geons, neu­rol­o­gists, fam­i­ly prac­ti­tion­ers, psy­chol­o­gists, ther­a­pists, nurs­es and pharmacists.

He has also suc­cess­ful­ly rep­re­sent­ed den­tal and med­ical prac­ti­tion­ers, as well as phar­ma­cists and nurs­es in licen­sure actions brought by the Attor­ney Gen­er­al. This expe­ri­ence has devel­oped respect for our firm when han­dling cas­es before Admin­is­tra­tive Law Judges and against attor­neys from the Attor­ney General’s office. Mr. Kamel has served and con­tin­ues to serve as cor­po­rate coun­sel for large den­tal and health­care facil­i­ties and hos­pi­tals. His involve­ment with these facil­i­ties include the day to day legal coun­sel­ing regard­ing risk pre­ven­tion, patient dis­putes, as well as labor law and employ­ment relat­ed issues aris­ing from employ­ee dis­putes.  These cor­po­rate coun­sel duties include the mon­i­tor­ing of Board meet­ings at the larg­er health­care facilities.

Mr. Kamel is also expe­ri­enced in labor and employ­ment lit­i­ga­tion. His rep­re­sen­ta­tion of clients includes, but is not lim­it­ed to, cas­es involv­ing sex­u­al harass­ment and dis­crim­i­na­tion in the work­place, as well as wrong­ful ter­mi­na­tion, meal and rest break claims, and hos­tile work envi­ron­ment claims. Mr. Kamel has also been active in his rep­re­sen­ta­tion of Home­own­er Asso­ci­a­tions from San Diego to San­ta Bar­bara. His firm serves as cor­po­rate coun­sel for Home­own­ers Asso­ci­a­tions in South­ern Cal­i­for­nia pro­vid­ing day to day mon­i­tor­ing of home­own­er com­plaints. His active role has assist­ed HOA Boards and Prop­er­ty Man­age­ment Com­pa­nies with aggres­sive defense of com­plaints by res­i­dents. Mr. Kamel is admit­ted to prac­tice in all courts of the State of Cal­i­for­nia.  He is also admit­ted to prac­tice before the Unit­ed States Dis­trict Court, Cen­tral Dis­trict of Cal­i­for­nia.  He is a mem­ber of the Amer­i­can Bar Asso­ci­a­tion, Los Ange­les Coun­ty Bar Asso­ci­a­tion and Asso­ci­a­tion of South­ern Cal­i­for­nia Defense Counsel.
