
Ms. Barcenas is a litigation associate at Brian P. Kamel & Associates. After graduating summa cum laude from Walla Walla University, Ms. Barcenas received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications, minoring in Psychology. In her senior year, she was elected as student body president, responsible for nearly a five hundred thousand dollar budget to provide activities and events for students, faculty, and staff. In this role, Ms. Barcenas developed key interpersonal communication skills leading her cabinet and solving student issues as they arose. This background has provided her with those qualities necessary to be successful in negotiations with opposing counsel. In addition, Ms. Barcenas has a special passion for the defense of healthcare practitioners, as Ms. Barcenas comes from a family of health care providers in the area of both medicine and psychiatry.
After graduation from college, Ms. Barcenas then obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Willamette University. During her time there, she was on the Dean’s List, she was an executive board member of Moot Court, and she was the graduating vice president of her class. Additionally, she edited the Willamette Law Online, a weekly news article sent to thousands of attorneys on the West Coast. She also gained valuable experience clerking for a bankruptcy and personal injury firm throughout law school. This allowed Ms. Barcenas to gain hands-on experience in personal injury civil litigation, as well as financial planning and accounting.
Prior to working at Brian P. Kamel & Associates, Ms. Barcenas was an associate at a Riverside defense law firm where she regularly represented clients in court. Her current practice includes the defense of medical and dental practitioners in civil litigation, as well as the defense of doctors in licensure cases. Her practice also includes the defense of health care practitioners in the area of labor and employment litigation.
